By casting a unique lens on the challenges facing working people, it is drawing public attention to their struggles. In the past two years, the documentary Wild Caught has had a concrete impact on Sneads Ferry: it helped empower the local fishermen to fight incorporation of their small town and stand up for their right to carry on fishing-related activities on their own land. It also played a role in the North Carolina legislature's allocating $70 million to preserve working waterfronts for fishermen.

And we’re far from alone. We are meeting people and viewing documentaries and reading books that change how people view the world around them. People are beginning to frame questions around work and class in new ways.
